New York

Hi all! Welcome to my travel blog! I am a black woman exploring the world while sharing my experiences. Everything in its essence was created through him and for him so I’ve decided to capture my adventurous moments to share with my adventurous kings and queens.

Things I Learned in New York City

The Big Apple is an amazing place for tourist and first time travelers to visit. It is filled with breathtaking sites including many world renown locations, such as Central Park, Empire State Building, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, The World Trade Center, etc. This blog will provide you with a few tips and personal experiences to help plan your memorable trip.

1. The Subway is Your Best friend

New York City is a big city that is divided into many different areas: Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The Subway is best affordable and convenient way to get around the city. Most people use it to avoid the stand still traffic and expensive private transportation services. Although, it can be initially challenging to understand the routes, a mobile app can be used to navigate the subway system. Also, pack sneakers friends because you will be doing a lot of walking.

2. RoadMap to the City

Have a map on hand at all times. I used a mobile app to navigate my way around. As a female traveler, most of the time you do not want to be recognized as a tourist due to safety precautions, even if you have friends with you. It is best to plan ahead to figure out the exact locations you'd like to go and the best route to find them. It also saves time and prevents you from getting lost, but who doesn't love a good adventure.

3. "Day Pass" Me Please

New York can be very expensive when you think of all the fun activities to do and explore. The best way to make the most out of your experience while saving money is to purchase a day pass. Most days passes include visits to several famous landmark sites, with "skip the line" access. My friend and I purchased a day pass that included five locations, however it was not great weather so we only got the chance to visit two sites. Please go on a day with great weather sis :)

4. Smart Girls Budget

Always plan and budget for your trips. We love the "YOLO" moments, but the yolo bills are not for us all lol. Have a set amount that you'd like to spend with the events you'd like to attend. Sometimes it seems like we have to spend a lot in order to enjoy ourselves, but an itinerary with a set budget including a few exceptions can go a long way.

5. Enjoy Yourself, YOU DESERVE IT

When you enter the airport put yourself in a liberating myself. I personally start with prayer because I need God's hand before, during, and after. Your experience will be an opportunity to take a break from your work and worries. Use it as an opportunity to get away and spend the time that you need from the world. We all need a break sometimes. Be present in everyone moment and know that you will not come back as the same person that left. Enjoy yourself love! This time is for you!

Sincerely ,

HER
